I’m wondering if others plan for one last, big Bernard / Rosinski / Pfalzer purchase before they are no longer available. Ideally, everyone gets a nice supply of what they want for a while and there’s no ridiculous hoarding (pipe smokers know all too well about hoarding).
If others are planning a last big Bernard / Rosinski / Pfalzer haul, what would you be interested in picking up and how many units? That might help Roderick plan accordingly. Maybe there can be a limit when some things get back in stock to prevent hoarding?
I’m looking at picking up something along the lines of: 10 Bernard Aecht Altbayrischer, 3 Bernard Gekachelter Virginie, 4 Bernard Klostermischung, 4 Bernard Zwiefacher, 1Bernard Kownoer, and 3 Pfalzer Donnersberg.
I would love some more Rosinski Poltergeist. If it’s the last chance I would certainly get at least three. That stuff is great!
We are about to introduce a back order system to help us cope with the demand for German snuffs. Once an order is placed it may take 2 -3 weeks to be dispatched but it guarantees your will get any amount you order.
That’s a great idea Roderick! Looking forward to it.
Any idea when the next shipment of Bernard will be arriving?
Hello, I am new to this, and wish to know, what is the deal with German snuff, is it being completely discontinued? Any recommendations for some good traditional, and/or camphoric/aniseed/clove scented ones?
Bernard / Rosinski / Pfalzer are closing down soon (May?) due to new EU tobacco regulations that would be impossible for small companies to comply with. The big German snuff maker, Poschl, isn’t closing but their offerings are much less unique. I’m not aware of camphoric/aniseed/clove German snuffs but there are plenty that are quite traditional in different ways. You owe it to yourself to try something like Bernard Aecht Altbayrischer while there’s still a chance.
Hello,
I would be very interested in trying some offerings from Bernard, Rosinski and Pfalzer before they are gone!
I wish to avoid a mentholated smell (if any have them) and am interested in trying at least ONE of each of the best representative snuffs from these companies. What might you suggest? I also hope Bernard Tiger G comes in too, that looks facinating! What might the white snuff be made out of, talcum and sugar?
Many of the German snuffs have menthol, which I typically avoid. The products descriptions on the Toque site will clearly say if they have menthol or not. For Pfalzer, Donnersberg is fantastic as it uses a special strain of German tobacco that is unlike any other snuff tobacco I have had. For Bernard, Aecht Altbayrischer, Brazil Doppelt Fermentiert, or Fresco (in my opinion) are the best representatives of the classic German schmalzler (oiled) style. For Rosinski, my favorite is Tabacum but the snuff community always seems to recommend Goldapper.
Got another Bernard’s order coming soon, and from now on, until May, we will be ordering every 2 weeks.
Why is it only affecting small German companies? Anyone outside of Germany going to shut down?
Did I miss the Bernard shipment coming in? I have been checking in every few days to see if they are back in stock.
Should have more this week.
Hello Roderick, I was wondering if you could bring in some of the Bernard Tiger G and C snuffs? I would certainly like to try them, I quite very much like the Ozona Snuffy weiss that I ordered.
Cheers from your big fan from Canada, I can’t wait to put in another big order!
Sincerely,
Syn the Snuffing Dragon of Toronto
Back order system introduced for Bernard’s.
Adrian, Now you can order them by back order. We then know how many extra we need to order weekly.
@Roderick I put in an order with some back ordered Bernard’s. Will there be separate shipments or will you wait until the back order is fulfilled before shipping everything?
They usually ship when the back order is filled. Alternatively, we could ship and then add to another order when they come in. You would have to email with that request. It is just too costly to do two shippings.
I was recently told about these German brands shutting down, sad to hear. I just ordered some tins to try before they go. Has there been any talk of a larger company taking over some of the recipes?
Hey @Roderick
I wanted to put in an order for Bernard Tiger G and C but there is no option to do so, it merely says Out of Stock. How do I go about ordering some, mate?
@roderick I noticed Amostrinha is no longer available for back order? Are you not doing that anymore?
And will there be anymore restocks on Pfalzer or Rosinski?
Would love some more Pfälzer before they stop production.
We took back order off as we thought we had enough stock. How wrong we were. Back order is back on.
