as far as long term storage I’m not convinced that electricians tape isn’t going to leave a residue. My experience tells me that leaving it on anything for longer than a few months is  going leave that nasty sticky adhesive. any brands that do better than others?

Anyone tried gaffers tape? I have little  experience with it but I know it’s made to not leave a residue.

I have to say I agree.  A humidor is the best and only way to store tobacco long term.  I have said it before how easy it is to make one.  I have bought loads over the years from paying silly money for my first and peanuts for my last.  I also have a couple of home made ones that really are the best.  Fill a jar with boiled and cooled water, pierce the lid with lots of pin wholes and place in a large sealable container and surround by snuff.  Every 6 months change the water.  Simple and perfect.

I use 84% boveda packs in an ammo can for a humidor (here in Utah it’s too dry for a traditional humidor, only air tight things work). Would you say that’s enough humidity, @roderick?

If I had to try anything to seal a tin. I’d try brushing melted unscented wax around the lip of the lids before storing away long term. Then just scrape it of the container before cracking it back open. I’d store the waxed sealed tins out the way in another sealed tub so they ain’t knocked about while been stored away. Just an Idea…

I use the electrical tape, around the cap on bottom of the acrylic bullet, I got from Toque.

Since I sealed the cap to prevent the air from leaking into the bottom of the storage vial, it works great. A 2.oo bullet should not last this long with such a minor modification. I refilled it 5-6 times. And if you used the original gram and threw the bullet away, I think you would have your 2.00 worth. I am starting to realize this Roderick is a heck of a guy. He has some great prices on some great products.

👍 Thanks Roderick, and thanks Toque, I love that whiskey, honey 🥧

I always put tape around my F&T tins and WoS tins. I’ve only had one tin go bad before.
