For I haven’t snuffed in a few months due to a nose bleed that won’t heal and have been cheating on you with nicotine pouches. Zyn, killa and zonnics. (Waiting for my nose to heal, currently high up in the Rockies for work like REALLY high {which hasn’t helped})
This is more so a rant/review-ish. Just know I love you and appreciate what you have done for me and ALL our fellow snuffers. While I don’t know if this will be allowed since corona/Covid crap is so, well you know…
However I digress. In early 2020 I got the original Covid non mutation version. Either it was from my mother whose boss was at a dental convention in my province, which everyone there got the virus or from my father who had a co-worker literally in the Wuhan market. Whoever I chalked it as a “it is what it is” while I got very sick and should have been put on a ventilator (felt like I was about to die plus my city had no ventilators available, rip) I somehow by a miracle survived. Not without the long haul COVID repercussions. Thankfully my symptoms aren’t like other unfortunate people. I only suffer from a lose of sense/scents of smell and reduced taste. I can live without taste. Scent is debatable.
However it was a coworker who suggested using nicotine as a cure. While I was sceptical and not wanting to jump back on the tobacco train. IT WORKED!?! [Former cigarette smoker that quit 9years ago due to a case of bronchitis.] Said F it and try snuff since. Smoking anything is out of the question. Gum is not for me, patches gave me nasty rashes and drip is gross imo. Doesn’t help being in Canada, access to snuff it basically nonexistent. However I found toque snuff and felt blessed ever since.
The access to various selections of snuff have made my life enjoyable again. You might be surprised but I went 4years without a sniffer, which some can say is a blessing and a curse. While my sniffer is still broken I can smell(nicotine must be in my system), albeit reduced and probably 50%+ compared to anyone else.
I tried various flavours and found my favourite was Bernard F original Doser. Simply because I work outdoors in timber country and mostly of a core memory locked away.
That pine and hint of menthol had me hooked with a finishing hint of Smokey-ness. Man on man. That first sniff took me back to age 27 instantly. I was out in early January with my chocolate lab hunting wolves and coyotes in a forest that was burned down in summer of that year. Sleeping in a tiny tent at night with an oversized wood stove that basically turned my tent a sweat lodge LOL.
Spending that week snowshoeing on the hunt and distinctly remember that scent. Charred timber, fresh and old snow crunching underneath my feet with my dog following closely behind. And man let me tell you that cold wind/air assaulting my face at -30ish C was something different, but felt magical. I miss that dog and will cherish this memory, so I have you to thank for allowing me to remember it.
Sadly Bernard is no more and a border agent stole 10 of these Bernard’s that I ordered… I’ve tried and searched for other pine/tree like snuffs but nothing and NOTHING has came close or is even comparable. However I am very excited to try OTTO Forest when I order which will be soon.
Bernard was good while it lasted, and I am sad they are gone.
So once again. Thank you Roderick!
Man O man.* not man on man 😂. and turned my tent into* a sweat lodge.**
I swear auto correct is more of a hinderance than helpful at times
Man on Man, Lol! Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery. I know Forest won’t be a patch on Bernard’s but it is a good snuff. Can’t wait to read your opinion.
