I was recently asked why do other online website charge so much? My only answer is that they can get away with it because people are so rich these days that they don’t compare prices and don’t worry about losing money. Is that correct?

For some, they have been spending it there for years, and feel obligated as a loyal customer. Then when it hits home, and someone offers great prices on fresh snuff, one feels like he must create a new line, all of which is contracted out, and similar to the contractors brand, but the price is still high because people like gimmicks with catchy names. I’m sure they’re all good snuffs, but I for one won’t be paying prices like these. Not even out of curiosity. Up to $11.99 per 10g. I’ll give them this much credit, though. They have some snazzy descriptions, as follows…

    “Description
Try to savour the herby hint of mixed berries, mostly raspberry-jammy bubblegum, before you get a hard kick in the pudenda which will, for a while, distract you from any aroma. When your nose settles down and stops pulsing fit to burst an artery, note the subtle undertones of wild lavender, Himalayan barberry (which tones down the sweetness), vanilla pod and bitter orange with hints of jatamansi and clematis. The raspberry still prevails, though less sweet; more like the actual berry picked fresh off the plant on a warm summer evening.

The flavour lasts for ages. We didn’t bother timing it but a solid hour later (time for another dose) a squeeze of the nostrils gave a satisfying renewal of the base aromas. A little bit like scratch and sniff, kiddos.

Leave a review. We love to hear how much you love, hate, hate to love, or love to hate these products. Details please. We’ll reward you with more pain, (masochist). We are always open to suggestions for future products.”

It will take more than smooth talk to get into my wallet. People can pay twice or even 5 times the price if it makes their pudenda quiver, but I’m content to satisfy myself with honesty.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Not sure people being rich is the reason, since snuff is priced so cheap, even at other websites that charge more than Toque. An American paying $10 for a pack of smokes that lasts a day or two, or sees tobacco shops charging $10+ for a tin of snuff that’s likely been sitting on a shelf for half a decade, jumps onto a website and sees fresh snuff for a few dollars (maybe $5), and doesn’t look any further. Even paying more at another website is still ultimately saving money on a bottom line personal budget cost analysis. I was easily spending at least $50 a week as a smoker. $50 a week would be a lot of snuff to consume every week. Truth is, Snuff makers and overseas retailers undervalue their products, when compared to current prices for other tobacco products.</p>

Undervalued, maybe. But I think cigarettes are overvalued and the tax can be argued as criminal or incentive. It definitely falls under incentive! And I also see it as criminal, but no more criminal than the cigarettes producers adding so many harmful chemicals. I know Roderick is giving an honest price, and profit has to be satisfactory, but honestly, it’s cheap. That in itself is great incentive for smokers to switch. So far, I’ve converted two, and regularly order Red Bull for a coworker. He’s tried many, but that is his favorite.

Picklefist – Agreed. I love that most snuff is fairly cheap. Roderick has me as a loyal customer because of his honesty, product quality, prices and customer service. The cig industry and most of the tobacco industry is absolutely overvalued and over taxed. Snuff being realitivity undervalued made it easy and affordable to convert but Toque definitely keeps me snuffing, and on a very modest budget.

As a snuffer trying to change the perception of snuff and bring it back into popular demand, I want several retailers to sustain successful profits. I purchase from and support them all. But I do hope Roderick leads the pack in market share and sales, and thus drives down prices at his competitors. When I’m introducing someone to snuff, I want for them to have several places to easily aquire quality products from trusted people. And I can’t fault a business for gimmicks. While I likely won’t try Reaper any time soon, for the same reasons you stated, it may be that smooth talk and over the top product description that grabs someone elses attention and ends up converting them to a life long snuffer.

I hope that’s the case. The black label snuv is definitely out of my league, but if a nic fiend orders it to quit smoking, I’m happy for him. I see the value in supporting all, but for me, there’s only two places available, and I’m going to take the most honest. If Rods prices were the higher cost, I’d still buy his. If I feel I’ve been cheated even slightly, I’ll not deal with that business. I will stand behind integrity every time. It may be that MrSnuff has gone through changes and brought integrity to the front of his priorities. I hope this is the case. But at this point, I’m already devoted to do business where I felt, they needed ME. When I was made to feel like I didn’t matter as a customer, I stopped feeling good about doing business there. I really hope they’ve changed their perspective. Someday, maybe I can change mine. Right now, I get everything I need, and then some, from Toque.

Interesting discussion. I think it comes down to laziness of people, they’re signed up to one website and stick with it regardless of price.
The other issue is that for most people used to buying smoking tobacco or cigarettes, even over priced snuff seems like a bargain.

I agree with tompanepinto about the American tobacco point. It’s so expensive here with taxes. A pack of smokes here in CA are $10+ for one days worth. Oral tobaccos are quite expensive too. Also i think just more exposure to the market will drive people to the better prices over time. Some people, especially newbies, might find one site and stick with it out of ignorance until they find a community to show them the way. People come around. I think the lower class is rapidly expanding sonits not really about being rich theybjust need time to discover.
