It has been a busy couple of years for me. Thankfully I have a pretty significant snuff and pipe tobacco stockpile
Imagine my surprise, having not visited snuff sites to find another excellent range of snuff from Roderick. I ordered some old friends and some that have been around for some time. Only 1 I would not have ordered had I know it was mentholated. (Stormbreaker)
For years I wanted to see a Rappee from Roderick. Roderick, the man who makes dreams come true, hit it out of the park with the Artisan line! I love all of the artisan snuffs I ordered, especially the ficus, JP and Barleywine.
The scent of Pfalzer Freya reminds me of Kralingse Molens Gingerbread snuff

In any case, life is good and life is better with great snuff!
The Stormbreaker is good, but if you don’t like mentholated/medicated you’re not going to like it unfortunately. Maybe consider selling/trading it in the Marketplace?
I thought I really loved medicated snuffs, but lately i seem to be turning my nose up at them. Perhaps just have done too much and need to take a break. Unfortunately, I have three giant tins of Stormbreaker, Hedges’ The Snuff, and J&H Wilson Medicated No99, and a medium tin of McCrystal’s O&G, a close to empty McCrystal’s Sunrise, along with a couple small tins of Jip! and three full 7.5G tap tins of Red Bull, LOL. The last two are a bit more easy going, perhaps just because I’ve already gone through a couple small tins of Jip! and almost two tap tins of Red Bull.
Maybe I just have to power through the initial burn and just get used to one or a mix of these as a daily driver. Or they could be situational, only good for when I feel in the mood for some chill. Then again, I have been taking some of the Medicated No99 while writing this post and craving more…. good to have choices!
Yes, heavily mentholated/medicated snuff totally closes my sinus up. There is an elderly lady down the street that dips snuff, American Scotch snuffs. I will probably see if she would like to try it. Maybe she will like it and tell me where she catches all the fish I see her cleaning. That woman is something else!
Oh interesting, I was thinking mentholated would be more likely to OPEN your sinus, but maybe that’s why I’ve been feeling a bit blocked up especially when sleeping, doing a fair amount of menthol snuff.
I have been doing some neti pots and it helps a lot but is still a bit of an issue. I’ll try dialing back on the menthol and see if that makes a difference.
Good luck with your lady friend, she might turn her nose up at (lol) snuff, if she’s used to dip/chew. But it’s worth a shot.
Mentholated/medicated snuffs will initially open up your sinuses, but then later there is a rebound effect that closes them. Regular use can lead to chronic stuffiness. This is similar to some otc nasal sprays like Afrin which recommends discontinuing use after 3 days.
This is one of the reasons I mix up the types of snuff I used in a given day. Besides, I like variety.
It’s true but for a few snuffers, I think there maybe a work through were you get stuffed up and then eventually it just stops stuffing you up. I can’t really comment as I use so many different snuffs that I never get bunged up. I know one forum member who uses Jip like it was going out of Fashion and he never gets bunged up.

I’ve gone from 95% menthol to like 99% non menthol. My nose definitely likes the non menthol better when I’m doing a lot.
I do have a history of sinus/allergy issues and light to moderate snuff use definitely seems to help, at least if my nose isn’t really bad. I use Afrin spray a lot less that I used to during allergy time and aircraft descents where the pressure hurts if I cant clear to equalize.
Also the snuff to clear then Neti pot rinse works great (usually) if I’m having a cloggy day.
For clearing my nose for a few minutes, menthol or non menthol doesn’t seem to matter. I’ve now found toasts work great for a 10 minute clear.
Jet fixer, I am the same. The simple answer is salt. At bed time and first thing in the morning I use my Neti Pot. Yes, everyone on all the snuff forums know that I swear by my Neti Pot, but I also gargle salt water in the morning and the evening. Helps reduce the nasal drip I get from Menthol snuffs.
Interesting stuff Roderick and Jet Fixer, I’ll try a similar regime. The Neti Pot does help a lot, didn’t think about using it in the morning
Somewhat off topic, I emailed about getting a J&H Wilson No99 (Menthol) rather than the No1 (SP) I ordered in Order #39373. I emailed sales@toque but maybe my message wasn’t clear and I didn’t get a response yet,
Also, is there any plans to get some of the Simply Snuff Snuffs on hand? I don’t know if he’s been in contact with you at all, but he has some newly made snuffs that were just made a couple weeks ago. They are available from a competitor right now but I’d prefer to continue to support Toque since you guys have been really good for me.
Have a nice day!
I never tried gargling. I’ll try that too.
