Roderick asked me to keep him posted regarding my efforts to quit smoking tobacco.
I decided to quit smoking becouse cancer is scary as shit! I have seen too many family members and friends suffer multiple year, long slow painful deaths. As painfull as it is to see your loved ones suffer cancer, I’m sure it’s even more painful to be the one that has cancer.
I terribly miss my maternal grandmother, she is the closest to a sinless person I have ever known. This did not stop or slow or decrease the pain of the bone cancer tho, this was not the only form of cancer she had, it was only the last type of cancer she got before she quit fighting. Towards the end the pain changed who she was. She couldn’t stand lashing out at her beloved family due to the pain. Growing up I spent a lot of time with grandma and only ever seen her loose her patience and get outwardly angry one time! Only one time with anyone. She was such a selfless person, if anyone doesn’t deserve…….
You know my grandmother smoked for a few decades, but she still didn’t deserve the cancer. I should have quit smoking years ago, I mean I quit heroin a few years back. I honestly had a harder time with the smoking, or am having.
I’m struggling pretty hard right now, 17 minutes short of 25 hrs since I last smoked a pipe.
I’m pinching some W.O.S. Extra M, to take the edge off.
Did you know that you are 99.5% less likely to get cancer on snuff, than you are smoking tobacco.
I started growing my own tobacco, and am trying to prefer Toque over the rest to avoid unnecessary chemicals. Everything in my past only increased my odds of cancer.
SNUFF IS A GENUINE HARM REDUCTION! If SNUFFS my only vice I will be very very happy.
I actually just scored a Cannondale R500 triple Roadbike for $50usd$. I bought Shimano rapid fire Brake/Shifters for it not realizing MTB shifters won’t shift a Shimano Roadbike derailleur. I’m bummed about the shifter but I will get the bike repaired at somepoint, the stupid original 105 brifters are probably the only thing wrong with this bike! A CANNONDALE FOR CRISSAKE, what a buy.
I sure screwed up and smoked a pipe last night around 11pm, I’m very disappointed, that I slipped up.
I am done messing around with cravings I smoked two pipes since I quit, so I got out my stash of Toque quit. I feel I should take my attempt to quit very seriously, I owe it to my grandmother if nothing else. I also have T. Spanish Gem and T. USA W&H on its way, all should fight the cravings fairly well.
I smoked a pipe again last night, I feel so crummy about it.
Atleast I have smoked less than a pipe per day, and the last one I finally didn’t inhale, that is a small victory. Atleast it’s improvement in the correct direction.
I’m going to quit smoking, and use only smokeless nasal snuff to be honest, it’s been tuff going, but I’m going to do it!
I have been reading about Dr. Brad Rodu, and his Tobacco Harm Reduction information. There is genuinely good information in his literature. You know it’s a crime to tell smokers that smokeless tobacco is equally bad for your health. I would have switched over long ago.
Wish me luck, I will do the same for anyone else trying to quit smoking.
Are you still off smoking?
I just want to say how sorry I am for what you went through with your grandmother. It’s incredibly tough to see someone you love go through something like that. It sounds like you’ve already shown so much strength by quitting heroin, and now you’re fighting to quit smoking, which I know is no small feat. I’ve been in a similar boat—trying to quit smoking for years, and every time, it felt like I was taking two steps forward, one step back.
I recently tried THC-A flower as a way to help with stress during tough moments. Honestly, it was a game-changer. It wasn’t about getting “high,” but more about the calming, soothing effect. It helped me manage my cravings without that overwhelming feeling. I know it’s not for everyone, but it really made a difference for me when I needed a bit of support during stressful times.
