Do you store your snuff in the bulk pouches or tubs it’s shipped in & if so which do you prefer pouches or tubs ? Or do you transfer your bulk purchase to mason jars or something else ? I would like to buy 2 or 3 of my favorites in bulk. I would be refilling my carry tins frequently. I’m wondering if exposing the bulk snuff to oxygen repeatedly would dry it out or affect the flavors. Also there are a couple varieties I want in bulk, just because I’m worried they could be discontinued. The latter may be stored for a year or more unopened. Any advice would be appreciated.
I leave mine in the container it comes in if I plan to use it in the somewhat near future, but I use electrical tape to seal it up so air won’t get to it, it’s easy to remove and doesn’t leave a sticky residue, for longer storage I put them according to type or flavor in sealed vacuum bags and store in zip lock mylar bags in a cool dark place. Hope this helps.
I have a bunch in mason jars (I have dozens of jars in different sizes), I have some in airtight plastic pill type cases and I also do the electrical tape thing rustilley mentioned.
I ordered a ton when I started and I still have a whole lot left. Some of the ones in the plastic containers have picked up just a hint of a plastic scent after like 2 years, but it’s all still reasonably fresh and pleasant to take. The mason jar stuff is still great after years, though I make sure not to open the jars that often.
Mason jars are the way to go, I have found
Hi all o/
I have been stocking up “Just in Case” I lost faith in thinking the laws has been good for years and not to worry.
I remember 10 or more years ago when i wss still smoking, They quit mailing bulk tobacco.
Do you all think storing snuff in Tins a long time is ok. Just wonder about any trapped moisture creating problems.
Good tips here, Thanks o/
I was storing some Gawith in Mason jar’s and some opened tins in zip lock Mylar bags. It’s been about a year. I found the ones I kept in the bags to not loose flavoring. The Black Arabica i stored in a jar mostly smells like silky dark with a hint of coffee. Elmo’s reserve and Madagascan same thing. No where near where it used to be. Don’t really understand how that happened. As for the unflavored stuff they still are great.
From now on I’m keeping all Gawith in tins in Mylar bags
The electric tape idea is a great tip. Thank you
Glass mason jars.
I vacuum seal every one, has worked very good for me
One of the best ways Snuff Belgium.
I use Mason jars with screw type lids for my pipe tobacco. Might try jarring my snuffs of a similar flavor together, in the original tins.
