I think you’re starting at the right point (reflection with reflexivity). You’ll know, I’m sure, TS Eliot’s quote: ‘Time present and time past Are both perhaps present in time future, And time future contained in time past’.
I’m thinking about ‘possibles’ and any ideas will come back.
At this point three doves named Rappee, Berwick and Black are fluttering around in my craniosphere 😎 Would be great to start off with an extension of an established Toque classic. Black, coarse and moist (by definition, of course). And (personal preference) plain and higher in nicotine. Thus (it worked for those ‘other guys’ 😊 with Brunswick), lose the mild scenting – just well sweated leather plus light smokiness tobacco. And, on the nicotine, I do it myself anyway – a quarter teaspoon of Toque Rustica goes into my Berwick Brown snuffbox, ‘matter of course”.

I don’t know if anybody remember Jaap’s Choco-Latakia snuff from De Kralingse…a fantastic snuff that was made from dark-fired kentucky with choco aroma!

I would like to see a very strong (nicotine and scent) dark-fired kentucky choco scented or better …pine scented!

I remember it, but by name only. Never tried it. I think I had almost all the Molens except possibly the Choco-L and one I think was named Gingerbread. And I have dwindling stashes still of 6 or 7. Perhaps the reason is obvious – I’m just not into confectionery snuffs. I assume if it was a Latakia tobacco used, it would have been fairly light on the nicotin. And would not anyway have met the criterion of a hi-nic rappee someone pined for (if you’ll excuse the pine pun 😎).

I would love to see a toque version of a dark, just as you described, but I’ve been hunting something with a richer aroma than they’ve been. Think cheap coffee grounds against a profoundly rich coffee bean scent. This, by the way, is what I was hoping Espresso would be like, but I have craved a plain, that I’ve never had, as well. Something with a rich scent, like a good pressed pipe tobacco cake, moist and fragrant.

Yes you’re right, Nulliverse. Some good old snuffs there – some older than others – as starting points. It reminded me of my waffling on earlier about TS Eliot’s poem and the reflexive movements between things present, past and future. I suspect that was/is an important realisation with the practitioners of sorcery, necromancy, alchemy etc. – and of course snuff millers (😂).

That whole area of snuffing within which the dark rappees dwell is a very discrete arena. And the snuff makers who do it well have developed that over the course of decades if not centuries. My initial thoughts, which I kept to myself earlier, was – this is maybe a step too far for Roderick. But then I remembered the idea of a Toque-Otto schmalzler, when my reaction was also “What! Cool yer Jets, matey.” And of course, there it is now, on the market, the excellent Otto Snuff Schmalzler. It IS a schmalzler, and it’s certainly one of my Top Five.

I don’t have the most discerning nose, And I’ve never even tried a rapee. I don’t know if that’s an advantage, or a disadvantage. I’m always game to try something different, though. There’s a lot of guys out there who are rapee Connoisseurs, who might be more help, but I’m here if you need me. Always. 😉

I don’t mind getting beat up a little. I’m socially, an irresponsible masochist. 😉

I will have to order a few other rappee tins for comparison. Any suggestions, Roderick, anybody?

I’ll order some of that next and start getting a feelz.

Encore une excellente idée après Artisant snuff.

Pour ma part, même si je ne plonge mon nez la dedans que pour la détente du W.E (santo domingo, viking dark)  j’aimerai quelque chose qui emplit le nez de cette odeur d’ecurie, comme l’odeur particulière de Neffa ifrikia dans un tabac moelleux. Je suis d’accord aussi sur une nicotine supérieure, que le voyage soit doublement exquis.

Je n’ai pas un nez très développé mais si vous avez besoin d’un cobaye supplémentaire j’en serais ravie.
