Good evening friends,
Back after a long time out of the forums, I was planning on making a new order and just read the sad news about Bernard & Rosinski having to close doors because of that damned new eurodirective about track & trace tobacco.
Coincidentally I’ve been recently cut from my supply of Göteborgs Rapé chew bags and found that they are discontinued by the producer (Swedish Match) who just got bought by Phillip Morris) .
So now I am relying my last hope of getting some snuff in Spain to Toque Snuff, but I see that in the delivery section of the page it says that right now in Europe the orders are at the customers risk, about a year ago got a big order (more than 400€ kind of big) of snus from snusline get caught by customs and get returned to the vendor without receiving any reinbursement to me, not even after deducting the shipping costs…
To cut the story short, how has been you experience getting snuff lately in Europe? Do you know if sending through a private carrier (GLS, DHL, etc) instead of Royal mail makes any difference in the orders passing through Customs?
Thanks for reading my rant.
The only places at the moment that are safe to ship to, are France and Italy. The Netherlands and Sweden were good but 2 orders to both countries have recently been seized. Crazily, one of the Swedish ones said snuff was banned in Sweden. Germany is a nightmare, and Spain we are seeing 40% getting seized. My advice is try a very small order as they appear to have more of a chance to get through.
Thanks for your answer Roderick, and yes it´s crazy how the situation is getting, seems that a snuffageddon 2.0 is slowly creeping.
I will do as you say, I will order small and see how the customs behave, I don´t mind paying the import tax (normally around 20%) but the last time I had an order seized it was a snus order from snusline and the customs officials started asking for production certificates and a lot of tough documentation that the seller can´t produce so in the end it was destroyed or returned to the vendor.
I will make a small order and if it works slowly ramp up the size, I will post in this thread how everything goes just in case another snuffers from Spain come seeking info.
Thanks again!
The order arrived yesterday, from Toque to my door in 11 days, customs did notice the package and charged me the 21% of the import tax as usual for imports of tobacco from outside the EU, the envelope was not open so they did not inspect it thoroughly.
I recently received a Rosinsky order of raw burley flour, it was not disturbed nor charged anything, maybe because it came from inside the EU, this one I will save for later in case the close down on tobacco gets worse in the future.
Next month I will try a bigger order and see how it goes, I need to stock on some Viking tubs…
Marc, it is best to do 2 smaller ones as we are seeing some bigger ones getting seized by customs.
Yes, I will prepare my next orders but bump the size slightly in one of them to see how customs behave with different quantities.
Will keep informing!
Next round of orders received:
Order “1” arrived in 11 days and was charged with 25% tax, it was a 500 g economy bag.
Order “2” took 18 days to arrive and was not taxed at all, it was one 100 g tub and one 25 g tin.
Next time I will try maybe three 100 g tubs and a bunch of 25 g tins in other order to see if there´s any consistency in the taxing of it or it’s a bit random as I am suspecting…
I think it is more likely to get through if it is a smaller order. However I do think they just randomly catch the odd one or two. And they tend to be the bigger ones.
I agree, smaller the package higher possibilities to pass unnoticed, the question that I keep asking myself is: How big can it be till it gets noticed consistently?
I´m doing this “experiment” of incrementing slowly the size of the orders to see what is the criteria in the spanish customs since I can do small packages every month but the post costs keep piling up.
In the end I know what I like and want to buy it in bigger formats since they are cheaper, let´s see how big I can go.
So far of 3 orders: 2 did get noticed and taxed (approx 25%) none got seized.
I’m waiting for my order since May 21, date it was delivered to Murcia, Spain, and i’m still waiting. Nobody knows anything about the delivery; no notification from customs, no notification from spanish postal service. And there is no way to track it. Simply its lost. June 28 today More Than a month.
That’s really bad news. Spain used to be so good. Hopefully, you will get it or we will get it sent back. I think from now on we are going to have to send fully tracked. It might mean more getting caught by customs but at least we will know what is happening with orders.
Well, I’m still waiting and nobody answer my mails or give me an explanation about what have happened since 21 May. The point is that i have paid for products that are lost. If Toque is not Gringo to resend, please, say it clear. Thank you.
Ordered snafy through Coolsnus.in.ua everything is in stock
Crudo, please can you email me roderick@toquesnuff.com and I will get to the bottom of this.
