With all the excitement around Bernard’s I thought I give one a try. On my last eagle, were two Schmalzerfranzl as the description made it sound like something I would enjoy.

OH HOW WRONG I WAS….while I did enjoy the scent, flavor, and got used to the clumpy texture I could not keep this stuff in my nose for more than a minute or two. I simply must be allergic to something contained in the mix. I think I tried it 8 to 10 times with days between trials, but results were the same each time. So, my question is anyone else intolerant of schmalzers?

Plenty of other fish to fry here. Tons more things I’d like to try available at Toque. Just really bamboozled by this outcome as it’s never happened before with the two dozen or so snuffs I’ve used over the last couple of decades. Of course, none of the previous varieties were schmalzers.

To make this not all about me, anyone else ever run across a snuff you just couldn’t seem to tolerate? If so, feel free to post your experience here.
