The first stuff I ever tried was a tap box of Gawith apricot in 2008 from Don Johnson’s Tobacco World (still a fine tobacconist, but really only carries domestic smoking products). I believe the box is still buried in the back of my pipe cabinet, and probably still just as stale as the day I bought it. It was a few years later at the Albatross that I tried some proper, moist British snuff and fell in love (Still not a huge fan of menthol, but I’ve got some in my collection). I don’t remember the owner’s name, but he kept a stock for eccentric customers like myself. He even gave me a snuff box in exchange for a handkerchief. I mostly snuffed KB original in those college years.I still prefer to put an American dry snuff in my lip than in my nose.

Then I found Mr. Snuff and found I could buy almost anything I wanted. My biggest regret was a blend from 6 photo. I don’t remember the name of the blend, but I just gave myself a migraine remembering the first and only pinch I took of it. Half of that pinch is probably still in my lungs.I’ve been gun shy about Indian snuff ever since and really only buy English blends these days.

I apologize for not participating in the forums, but I don’t have easy access to snuff the way you all do. I just place my order, wait for a week or more, and hope for the best. But I appreciate you guys helping me with my selections.

Sadly, I am witnessed to the decline of tobacconists and fine tobacco. The city I live in is Springfield, Missouri, and the shop that sold me my first tin of KB original was called The Albatross, a true tobacco emporium, sadly, I’ve heard they’ve closed. The two other well established tobacco shops don’t have any interest in carrying snuff. And I wouldn’t buy American snuff anyway. As a novelty I bought my las tin if WE Garrett for $14. I miss having a place where someone would offer me a pinch of tobacco I never would’ve thought to buy for myself and then immediately buy a tin of it.

I’ve always been more interested in what are peoples least favorite snuffs. That’s how I found Taxi Red. But I also took a gamble on a value pouch of Viking Persica from Toque, and I’ve had it in my pocket every day since it arrived.

My most used is Samuel Gawith Kendall Brown Original from my college days. They started a “no tobacco” policy without asking my opinion and I started using snuff in revolt.

Viking Persica is my all day snuff.

Artisan Resolute or Toque Rose have become new favorites. I haven’t decided which just yet. I’m leaning toward Resolute and plan on a bulk order for my next purchase.

Surprisingly, I am partial to Taxi Red and Dholakia Black. I guess I like the smell of flowers as well as what they’re grown in.

Mr. Roderick, I have purchased a tin of Resolute from you and found it to be quite enjoyable. It is absolutely jasmine scented. I was merely trying to make a joke since my birthday is in July just like the song. I meant no offense. This is an instance where my awkwardness got the better of me. I assure you I am more awkward in person than I am on the Internet. lol.
