hardeveningsuburbParticipantJust placed a big order because I got on there this morning and noticed the massive price drops on all of my Wilsons staples! Was unaware of the context for said drops as I hadn’t checked the forum first, so just figured it was a flash sale or something and I better act fast. Good timing!

hardeveningsuburbParticipantHave you tried Toque Natural Toast yet? If not, it’s an absolute must. F&T HDT is (and always has been) the toast I take most often, but I always have a good supply of Wilsons Irish High Toast no. 22 and Toque Natural Toast on hand as well. Those comprise the Trinity of Toasts, for me anyway. I know there are others, but those three are the ones I wouldn’t want to have to live without.
Glad to hear you’ve been enjoying the Toque Quit! It’s too strong for all-day use for me these days, but it was perfect when I was freshly coming off of smoked tobacco and I still take it from time to time for a treat. I still have about 50 grams in a mason jar from a bulk purchase I made back in 2012, believe it or not!
Almost forgot, the Silver Dollar Scotch is worth a try as well. I honestly like it better than the actual American Scotch snuffs I’ve had (W.E. Garrett, Bruton, and Dental). And it’s not a toast, but Toque Natural is a wonderful plain snuff you might want to try at some point. For me, it somewhat reminds me of the scent of a well-maintained walk-in humidor at a cigar shop. It’s more of a medium strength, but I’ve taken hundreds of grams of the stuff over the years and it has never done me wrong. It’s probably my favorite non-toasted plain snuff. The Wilsons of Sharrow Plain is nice too, but there’s something about the Toque that I prefer.
hardeveningsuburbParticipantGreetings, fellow Texan. I too gave up cigarettes, and snuff was instrumental in me succeeding at doing so. I briefly considered gradually weaning myself off snuff, too. But ultimately I had no desire to completely eliminate tobacco (and nicotine) from my life, so I just kept right on taking snuff. Happily so.
Anyhow, welcome. Definitely post your thoughts when your order shows up. What all did you order, if you don’t mind disclosing?
hardeveningsuburbParticipantIt depends where I am. If I’m at home, I definitely prefer to pinch so I stick with a small, round 0.5 oz. can that I refill from my bulk stock.
If I’m out and about though, I tend to use a plastic tap box so as not to be sticking my dirty fingers in my snuff. The one I use is available via Etsy from a shop called SnusAtHome. It’s inexpensive, compact, durable, doesn’t leak, and it holds a considerable amount of snuff. I recommend it highly.
hardeveningsuburbParticipantAny harsh noise fans out here in snuff land? I listen to a lot of proper music, but I love noise is about equal measure. I bring it up because I’m currently listening to the recent CD reissue of Community Center Cyber Crash / Live In Pittsburgh by C.C.C.C. Old school live Japanese harsh noise at its finest. Swirling and borderline psychedelic. Great job on the remaster, too. It sounds amazingly clean and crisp for being live noise recorded at a community center in 1993.

Also threw in a large tin of Toque Natural Toast because I wanted to make sure it was as good as I remembered it being when I last had it. Just took a pinch and it certainly is. In fact, it’s even better than I recall! I’ll definitely be buying some more on my next order.

hardeveningsuburbParticipantI really miss Wilsons of Sharrow Irish Toast no. 21. Even when it was around and easily had, I didn’t see it talked about very much. No. 22 was always my favorite of their toasts, but 21 was always a treat and I took it often when I was first getting into snuff. I still have a little under 50 grams of it in a mason jar, and when it’s all gone I’ll miss it quite dearly.
Also, Sternecker schmalzlers. I was never a big taker of schmalzlers, but those were always my favorite. Echt Fresco was glorious.
Abraxas, too. It was a dark day when Nigel closed up shop. Dragun was so unique. I could never use it every day, but it was such a treat. I still have a small stash of it, and I dread the day I reach the end of my supply.
