Hiya Roderick, I have a question that comes to mind sometimes. With all the Toque inventory at your fingertips daily, which Toque do you find yourself pinching more than the rest?  Or possibly does tasting batches, which must occur, keep your nicotine jones at bay ? Perhaps a better question is , when you leave the shop which snuff most often travels with you in the box?  Also just because a guy owns a restaurant, doesn’t mean he doesn’t eat at other restaurants. Which snuffs from other makers do you use?

That’s what I did and it helped. I still don’t seem to reach for one ever. pinch, spoon, or boxcar is quicker it seems.

Snus, and American dip style tobacco’s at work. 50/50. I work outside and don’t bother with nasal snuff when at work. At home its snuff and a pipe or two during the evenings and  during time off. I gave up inhaling tobacco (cigarettes) over 10 years ago. Perhaps its more of  a matter of in the house nicotine, and out of the house nicotine. If at a restaurant , or a movie, shopping, public… its snus. Outside fishing, hunting, cutting the grass, working, its gonna be American dip. Sitting on my ass in front of some screen or watching a hockey game it’s gonna be lotsa nasal snuff, and pipes full of my aged pipe tobacco’s. I have been cellaring them for years and now enjoy mostly 10 yr old stock or older. In my convoluted layman’s  self health idea’s. I’m always switching  absorbing my drug of choice using different parts of anatomy.  That way I’m not overly abusing one constantly. LOL I’m abusing many parts less frequently. Anyway, it works for me

I do the same and have for years. I believe it will keep it fresh indefinitely. I have pipe tobacco that has been stored this way since 2007, and when I crack one open it is just as fresh as when I jarred it. The pipe tobacco jars are in the basement, in boxes on shelves. those canning jars are so air tight I hear they will keep actual food fresh for years! Tobacco’s are easy work for them.

I decant as well, from large Toque tins to the ten gram. like  them very much. Not to concerned about aluminum. I’m leaning on the genetic predisposition being more responsible for these ailments. Diet and exercise will really go a long way, and its probably the only real thing that helps fend off the bummers of growing older. Add a little moderation to those questionable substances and habits too. I’d like to see Toque get in those plastic snuff boxes that everyone is wanting. I would probably buy 4 or 5. Wood is not a good snuff box material for storing longer than a day. Until then its aluminum.
