I agree, smaller the package higher possibilities to pass unnoticed, the question that I keep asking myself is: How big can it be till it gets noticed consistently?

I´m doing this “experiment” of incrementing slowly the size of the orders to see what is the criteria in the spanish customs since I can do small packages every month but the post costs keep piling up.

In the end I know what I like and want to buy it in bigger formats since they are cheaper, let´s see how big I can go.

So far of 3 orders: 2 did get noticed and taxed (approx 25%) none got seized.

    Next round of orders received:

Order “1” arrived in 11 days and was charged with 25% tax, it was a 500 g economy bag.

Order “2”  took 18 days to arrive and was not taxed at all, it was one 100 g tub and one 25 g tin.

Next time I will try maybe three 100 g tubs and a bunch of 25 g tins in other order to see if there´s any consistency in the taxing of it or it’s a bit random as I am suspecting…

In my experience all the Pöschl snuffs particularly the schmalzlers are pretty weak in the nic department, all of the same category/grind tend to hit the same (maybe because of the mass production manufacturing process)

I don´t have any exact numbers but based on my experience if you shove a lot of it up your nose, wich is fairly easy with their grind and oiliness, you can hope for a medium nic hit with a long delivery time.

If you are looking for a good nic hit in a coarse grind better try TAXI or NTSU, but be advised that their scent is strongly fermented tobacco / Barnyard not the sweet aroma of the schlmazlers.

Yes, I will prepare my next orders but bump the size slightly in one of them to see how customs behave with different quantities.

    Will keep informing!

in reply to: What are you using to carry you everyday snuff #23178

During the years I have experimented with lots of containers for daily use (flasks, glass vials, plastic snuffboxes, pill boxes, etc) in the end I’ve settled with carrying 3 containers with me inside a old RYO ziploc bag:

1- One Toque 10 g  screw top tin for pinching, it seals very well and never opens by accident.

2- One metal bullet, for fine dry snuffs, I do not use it directly to my nose, I pour a dose in the back of my hand and pinch from there.

3- One Poschl container, easy to use, seals moderately well and can be shown with confidence in airports if suspicious looks arise in places like airports and the like…

So wherever I go I can easily take 3 different snuffs with me for different situations, the only downside is that it’s a bit bulky but still fits in my pocket.

The order arrived yesterday, from Toque to my door  in 11 days, customs did notice the package and charged me the 21% of the import tax as usual for imports of tobacco from outside the EU, the envelope was not open so they did not inspect it thoroughly.

I recently received a Rosinsky order of raw burley flour, it was not disturbed nor charged anything, maybe because it came from inside the EU, this one I will save for later in case the close down on tobacco gets worse in the future.

Next month I will try a bigger order and see how it goes, I need to stock on some Viking tubs…

in reply to: How Often do you Pinch and Sniff? #23175

I sniff every 1/2 hour approx, one good pinch in each nostril, but the frequency depends a bit on the type of snuff, with heavily scented snuffs usually it takes a bit longer since I feel satisfied with the lingering aroma even when they can be low on nicotine.

With fine and not heavily scented snuffs I tend to pinch more often but with smaller pinches, it helps to maintain the aroma fresh in the nose.

The quantity depends greatly on the type of snuff, with fine & dry snuffs a small quantity goes a long way so maybe 1 g per day, with medium nicotine moist snuffs it ramps to 3 or 4 g per day.

Thanks for your answer Roderick, and yes it´s crazy how the situation is getting, seems that a snuffageddon 2.0 is slowly creeping.

I will do as you say, I will order small and see how the customs behave, I don´t mind paying the import tax (normally around 20%) but the last time I had an order seized it was a snus order from snusline and the customs officials started asking for production certificates and a lot of tough documentation that the seller can´t produce so in the end it was destroyed or returned to the vendor.

I will make a small order and if it works slowly ramp up the size, I will post in this thread how everything goes just in case another snuffers from Spain come seeking info.

    Thanks again!
